Estimator – Structured Cabling, AV, Security

Position Summary

Telecom is seeking a full-time low voltage estimator in its New York based headquarters.  This is a fast-paced environment and requires accuracy and attention to detail.  Responsibilities include participating in estimating projects related to our Specialty Systems, including: low voltage structured cabling, wireless, AV, surveillance, access control, and POE Lighting. This position does qualify for remote based working opportunities.

Job Duties

• Work with Sales, Design, Project Management in the review of project plans, bid documents, requirements and specifications.
• Determine labor and equipment costs. Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing from distribution.
• Walk project sites as required to gather information for project estimate and scope.
• Read blueprints to estimate time, labor and materials needed for projects.
• Assist the sales team in estimating time and building designs.
• Meet deadlines and document results.
• Forge and maintain strong working relationships with internal staff, architects, engineering consultants, distributors and partners.

 Job Requirements

• 1-5 years’ experience in estimating for structured cabling, AV and or Security.
• Must be well versed in Designed TC/AV/SEC drawings and/or specifications.
• Must be organized, able to multitask, and communicate well with others. Proficient in working with Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong time management skills - Understand levels of importance in daily tasks and/or ask for guidance on what tasks are most important.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and relationship-building skills.
• Strong computer skills, preferably including experience with CRM software (currently Salesforce), electronic filing software (currently Sharepoint), Esticom, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and any other software that may be utilized in the purchasing department.
